Have you or someone you know ever fancied finding finding out more about hands on animal care by having a hands on experience with a dedicated and professional animal care team? Well now you can!  Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary is offering an Animal Carer for the Day experience which is perfect for anyone who would like an insight into how the animals are cared for at Holly Hedge. The experience will make you feel like a real part of the team!

Whilst shadowing one of their dedicated and experienced staff you will learn new skills and have a greater understanding of the work and care involved to look after the wonderful canine and feline residents. You will have the opportunity to get involved in various parts of the animal carers day, including cat cuddling, dog walking, preparing food, feeding and mucking out.

You can take part on various dates throughout the year and our Carer for a Day experiences include a guided tour of the Sanctuary, a goody bag, £5 gift shop voucher and a certificate to take home and cherish forever!

The experience costs usually costs £65 per person and all monies raised will go directly towards the running costs of Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary. However if you would like to get this as a lovely gift we are offering 10% off the experience if booked by 25th April.

The experience is perfect as a gift for a friend or loved one and if you wish to purchase the experience as a gift we will send you a gift voucher with a personalised message on.

DOG RESIDENT OF THE MONTH - MADDIE

Yes that's right poor Maddie i still here so we have crowned her 'Dog Resident of the Month' once again in the hope that she might catch someones eye!
Beautiful Maddie is an older girl who sadly came to us after her owner passed away. She deserves a wonderful retirement home where she can have a big cosy bed to sleep in and plenty of hugs. She does however still enjoy her daily walks and will need her daily exercise to keep her weight down as she is a little on the heavier side. Maddie really would be a gorgeous addition to most families.
If you would like to find out more about Maddie then please contact us today!
CAT RESIDENT OF THE MONTH - SCRUFF

Image may contain: catScruff has had a tough start to life after living on the streets from a young age. When he arrived with us he had to be clipped as his fur wasn’t in the best state. Scruff is a little scared at the moment whilst he settles into cattery life. With time, patience and gaining his trust, he would become a lovely and very deserving companion. He just needs to be given a chance. Could you find it in your heart to help this dear boy?

Newfoundland Water Rescue

We are very excited to be organising this amazing event once again with the Newfound Friends!
This is your chance to dive in and do your bit too – but be prepared to get wet as you experience for yourself what it’s like to be rescued by an 8 stone hero. Take part in this once in a lifetime event. You will be suited up, taken out in the marina by boat and then asked to jump in, but don’t worry, it won’t be long before the Newfoundland dogs show off their skills and tow you back to safety.

The day will be held at Portishead Marina’s annual Festival on the Quay on 15th July so a great day out for all the family with plenty to see and do!

Please email us  for more information or to receive a fundraising pack.
Talks with Rosie - Part 3: Canine Separation Related Behaviours

Join us on 8th May for a talk about canine separation related behaviours. "Separation anxiety" is one of the most common phrases used by owners to describe a dog that exhibits unwanted behaviour when the owner leaves home or just leaves the room - but this isn’t always the case. Rosie will be looking at separation related problems in dogs and the different potential causes of unwanted behaviour when dogs are left alone.
Brought to you by our lovely behaviorist Rosie, tickets are £5 and all monies collected will be donated to Holly Hedge.
You can book your place by emailing us or you can book online via the following link.
For more information or to register to take part please email us.
A HUGE thank you!

During his second term as WM of Sir Thomas de Cheddre Lodge 9188, W. Bro. Geoff Adams, and his wife Susan aimed to support two local charities; the Frenchay After Burns (FAB) Children’s Club and the Holly Hedge Animal Sanctuary. On the 27th February we were so happy to welcome them to our premises for a visit and they made a hugely generous donation of £700 to help with our ever increasing running costs.
We are so thankful for their kindness and support to our sanctuary.
