2016 was an exciting year for Holly Hedge and saw the completion of our new and much awaiting kennel block which is proving to be such an asset to the sanctuary leaving our beloved canines much cosier, more relaxed and also giving them more freedom allowing them go in and out through their purpose built dog flaps as they please. We have also introduced three three long stay rooms with their own garden areas and we've even treated some of our pooches to luxuries such as sofas and arm chairs. We also have six new large gardens and a new sensory garden full of wonderful textures and smells for our residents to explore.

After all of these wonderful improvements for our dogs we want to make 2017 the year of the felines and give our cattery a much needed revamp. We will be fundraising for new hygienic cat beds and hides, larger areas for feral cats and an improved cat garden.

We are so grateful to all of our dedicated staff, supporters and volunteers for making 2016 such a great year and we look forward to making 2017 even better - from behalf of all at Holly Hedge (two legged and four) we wish you a happy new year!

We are still looking to brave participants to support us in the 2017 Bath Half Marathon.
Shake off those excess Christmas pounds and un for Holly Hedge in the iconic 'Bath Half’ - one of the longest established and most popular running events in the UK. Email us for more details and to register for a place today - we are still desperate for runners so please get in touch and help support our four legged friends in 2017!

DOG RESIDENT OF THE MONTH - MADDIE

Beautiful Maddie is an older girl who sadly came to us after her owner passed away. She deserves a wonderful retirement home where she can have a big cosy bed to sleep in and plenty of hugs. She does however still enjoy her daily walks and will need her daily exercise to keep her weight down as she is a little on the heavier side. Maddie really would be a gorgeous addition to most families.
If you would like to find out more about Maddie then please contact us today!
CAT RESIDENT OF THE MONTH - KITKAT

Kitkat is a very sweet, yet shy girl who has settled really well into the cattery. She didn’t like sharing the attention with the dog in her previous home, so is looking for a new place all to herself! Kitkat enjoys a gentle fuss and chat and we think she would make a fab addition to your family!

Newfoundland Water Rescue

We are very excited to be organising this amazing event once again with the Newfound Friends!
This is your chance to dive in and do your bit too – but be prepared to get wet as you experience for yourself what it’s like to be rescued by an 8 stone hero. Take part in this once in a lifetime event. You will be suited up, taken out in the marina by boat and then asked to jump in, but don’t worry, it won’t be long before the Newfoundland dogs show off their skills and tow you back to safety.

The day will be held at Portishead Marina’s annual Festival on the Quay on 15th July so a great day out for all the family with plenty to see and do!

Please email us  for more information or to receive a fundraising pack.

A HUGE thank you!

Some lovely gentleman from Iron Acton have raised over £2,500 for Holly Hedge through the sale of their unique reindeer, hand carved from wood.
Haydn Rickard and Steve Tovey also produced some lovely festive cards featuring the reindeer with 100% of profits being donated to the sanctuary.
We are so incredibly grateful for their hard work and kindness and the money raised will help us to continue to provide shelter from harm and the promise of a brighter future to our four legged friends throughout another wonderful year.
