FoPo Poetry -- Thursday November 17, 7pm
feat. Michael Guimond & Jane Ormerod

Join local poetry legend Mike G (Michael Guimond) and New York poetry legend Jane Ormerod for this edition of Fo Po Poetry. The door opens at 6:30, words fly at 7. There's also time for 6 foks to share a poem or two.
Mike G has appeared numerous times at open mikes and other featured readings in the Portland-Vancouver region. Whether inspired by his job as an usher downtown, or the observations of his 10 year old nieghbor, Mike combines insight, compassion & a unique perspective.as he stalks the stage.

I thank the gods of coincidence that Jane Ormerod had an event scheduled in Portland 11/18, as Fo Po Poetry has no travel budget, and I love Jane's work. One of the editors of Great Weather for Media, Jan'es most recent book is Welcome to the Museum of Cattle, She is an intense and engaging performer.

Upcycled Yarn

Backstory Books & Yarn is an urban spinnery, producing yarn from post-consumer sources, like your closet.

At Backstory we take sweaters and turn them back into yarn.

After cleaning, straightening and blending colors, what used to be waste has become beautiful yarn for knitting, crocheting, weaving and more.

Trade in your moth-eaten sweaters for books and yarn, and help them upcycle to another use. (Backstory prefers sweaters made of natural fibers - wool, cotton, silk, alpaca, angora, bamboo, soy, viscose.)

New Books & Crafts

Backstory has new books by local authors. These books may be a little more expensive than the used books on offer, but they were all written by your neighbors and the money you pay for them goes to the authors!

Some of these books are not available anywhere else.

Same goes for the crafted items sold at Backstory. They were made locally, mostly in the Foster Powell neighborhood. Buying unique ceramics, lip balm, cards, & soap from Backstory keeps your money in our local community, in the pockets of local artisans you may already know.

Used Books

Backstory loves to trade books. Bring in your gently read books (or your unused yarn) to trade for books or yarn.
Anyone can trade - including kids.

Also, ask about how you can bring your books into Backstory & give the trade credit to the area school of your choice.
