California Freethought Day
Supporter,

We recently emailed you about the great list of incredible speakers and some special guests that we've lined up for this year's California Freethought Day.

This time, let's focus on our entertainment... live music, comedy, historical acting, and something for the kids.

Hello Again

A tribute to the power pop, new wave band of the late 70s and 80s, Hello Again will remind us just how great The Cars were. Their singles like My Best Friend's Girl and Just What I Needed are sure to bring you back to the era while tapping your feet.

These experienced musicians just performed at The Pepper Festival in Auburn and we're excited to have them join us.

🕛 Hello Again will be performing in the late afternoon at Freethought Day.

Raul Martinez

Raul is a proud secular humanist and part-time comedian currently living in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born in Mexico City, he moved to the United States in 1996 and became an American citizen in May of 2001. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of the AHA from 2009 to 2014.

In 2011, he became one of the plaintiffs in a lawsuit filed by the ACLU of Nevada for the right of atheists to perform marriages and in December of 2013, Raul started offering non-religious wedding services as a Humanist Celebrant.

He served as president of Humanist and Atheists of Las Vegas (HALV) from 2014 to 2016 and currently serves as coordinator for the Las Vegas Coalition of Reason. In 2017, Raul helped launch the monthly Las Vegas GODLESS Comedy Show at the Center for Science and Wonder.

🕓 Raul is performing a family-friendly set in the early afternoon during Freethought Day, and a more "adult" set at our Fundraising Reception.

Sean O'Brien

Sean is coming back as Robert Ingersoll!

He has for many years been performing, directing and teaching acting in professional, community and educational theaters across the U.S.  Upon retiring from teaching, he began Every Corner Productions which boasts two one-man shows: "The Portable Poe Show" in which Sean performs dramatizations of Poe's poetry and short stories, and "Bob: The Words of Col. Robert Green Ingersoll" which is a composite of passages taken from Ingersoll's most memorable speeches.

🕛 Sean will be performing as Robert Ingersoll at the beginning and ending of Freethought Day and at our Fundraising Reception.

Uncle Sam (Andy Swan)

It all began when Andy's oldest brother, George, taught him how to juggle back in 1966. At first Andy would visit the circuses just to see the jugglers, but once he saw what else the circus had to offer he fell in love. After high school he went off to join the DeWayne Bros. Circus in Oregon. During his year with them he learned just about everything there was to learn about circus life.

Andy will delight children and adults with juggling, balloon animals, magic, and all kinds of good-natured fun.

🤹‍♂️ Uncle Sam will be available from 1 PM until 4 PM.

Will you be there?

If you let us know in advance that you're going, you'll get a free full-color program and a chance to win any of $300 in door prizes.
