We've got some great events coming up this Spring, so get out your calendars!
1. March 9th - Raise the Roof with the Band of Oz
On March 9th from 7-10pm, we're welcoming the Band of Oz to the Western Chatham Senior Center! Tickets are $20 each, and we also have a limited number of reserved tables for six available for $200. We'll have heavy hors d'oeuvres and a short auction including several vacation packages.
On Thursday March 16th at 5:30pm, we'll be dedicating a remodeled home on Acorn Park Lane in Pittsboro. Future homeowner Mary Anna Harris has been working hard to get her hours in, and she's looking forward to celebrating with her community!
On March 25th at 11:30am, we'll also be dedicating two new homes and one remodeled home in Siler City. We'll begin on Westmont Drive at the remodeled house, and from there, we'll walk to the other two houses on North Chatham Avenue.
If you've never had the chance to come to a dedication, they're the best part of what we do. After months of hard work, we all get to take a step back to high-five, pass the keys to the family, and spend time together.
This remodeled home in Pittsboro is part of a larger partnership between Habitat for Humanity of North Carolina and the State Employee's Credit Union Foundation. The SECU Foundation has committed to funding the construction of one Habitat house per county in North Carolina (that's 100 houses!), and Mary Anna's home in Pittsboro is the Chatham County house. Pictured above is Mary Anna along with volunteers from the Pittsboro and Siler City branches of the Credit Union.
3. Second Annual Adult Spelling Bee
We're having our second annual Adult Spelling Bee on April 27th at 6pm at Northwood High School. Team registration will open on March 1st, when teams of four will be invited to register to compete for a donation of $100. Teams will go head to head on the night of the event to spell their hearts out! Remember that you'll have one chance to buy back into the competition if you miss a word - for a $100 donation to Chatham Habitat!
4. No Show 5K
On Saturday May 27th, don’t get up early and come run a 5K for Habitat! You don’t have to start training now, you don’t have to buy a new pair of running shoes, and after the event, you don’t have to lie to your friends about your time. In all seriousness, we’re hosting a No Show 5K, which is exactly what it sounds like – participants will register for the event, get a great looking t-shirt, and they DON’T have to actually run the race. Registration is $20 a person, and you’ll get a bag of race swag and a t-shirt.
