I heard that Life is an acronym for Love in Full Expression, an evocative idea which I interpreted as an invitation to explore the depth of my relationship with love, what a wondrous healing adventure, forever expanding and unfolding.
Life is all about relationships, my work is informed by the understanding that everything in the universe is a function of purpose, and our purpose is to grow, expand and evolve through Learning, healing and Contributing.
Accordingly, relationships contribute to the fulfillment of our purpose; hence, the most important skill we can develop is how to relate by gaining an understanding of what it means to relate and what hinders relationships.
Healthy relationships arise from a place of wholeness, from the knowingness that we are complete, and from that place of fullness we can expand into something greater.
Unhealthy relationships result from feeling incomplete, from an empty place that needs to be filled. That emptiness is the hollow painful feeling that haunts so many people who feel alone in the world. This loneliness is the common cause of many addictions, i.e., food, alcohol, cigarette, drugs, TV, Cell phones, social media, shopping, sex, gambling, work, drama, to name just a few.
Our attempt to protect ourselves against the pain of feeling disconnected through addictions is a soul-destroying coping mechanism, which leads to much distress. Giving in to our addictions briefly fills the emptiness we feel and numbs our pain, but the feeling is fleeting, and we crave more, we need to keep doing it again and again. Going down this slippery road leads to shame and guilt escalating our suffering and dis-ease and damaging our relationship with ourselves and all aspect of life.

Pain is part and parcel of being alive, but suffering is manmade, born out of an unconscious relationship to pain. When we learn how to relate to pain it becomes our teacher and healer, to heal means to make whole to reclaim our holiness.
