March 2023

Greetings from the La Plata County Community Development Department! Below you will find a news update on the projects, plans, and processes afoot in our Planning and Building Departments. Thank you for your interest in La Plata County!
Here's what you'll find in this issue:
Planning Department Update
Due to a staffing shortage and an increased number of permit applications, processing time for projects has significantly increased. We are working to address this as best we can and appreciate your patience. Thank you for your understanding.

If you are interested in joining our team, please see current County Job Postings here!
Building Department Update
On October 11, 2022, the Board of County Commissioners adopted impact fees for the Durango Fire Protection District. The fees took effect on January 1, 2023. In addition, the County will be charging a 3% administrative fee (on top of the impact fee) for the collection and processing of the fees. For information regarding these fees go to our webpage here or call (970)382-6251.
Update to Chapter 90, Oil and Gas Regulations
