Deep Streams Zen Institute Friends,
I invite you to check out my new website, josephbobrow.com. There’s a blog where you can leave comments, and a list of upcoming events. I’m reviving my psychotherapy practice, a Zen sangha is taking shape, and I am exploring with colleagues a year-long Buddhist study (and practice) program, with a Zen flavor. The in-person component will probably be once a month, so it’s feasible for friends in the four directions.
I’ve settled in Studio City, CA: From the west side of the city of angels wind up the canyon road and over the foothills and you’re on the southern edge of the valley of Saint Fernando. In my apartment complex there must be 30 children under 12. When they get have birthday parties, squeals and mirth abound. Out front are mature eucalyptus and jacaranda trees. The Los Angeles River, also known as the Tujunga Wash, follows the contours of my street, Valleyheart Drive. Diving swallows and crows, egrets and ducks and hummingbirds keep good company. Thick purple showers from the jacaranda have been swirling and twirling, powdering the streets, laws and cars.
