Why Do We Love STS?

As we prepare for Catholic Schools Week, Ms. Peters put up a new front display with many student responses to why they love STS! Here are some examples. I love the variety!

Prayers for Fitz Loula!

You may have heard that one week ago, St. Therese Preschooler Fitz Loula was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Fitz also has three brothers in preschool, Kindergarten and First grade at STS. St. Therese will be hosting a Holy Hour for Fitz on Friday, January 20th from 9am-10am. All families and community members are welcome to join us. School students will attend at various points throughout the hour. You can read updates on Fitz's progress HERE. Support the Loula family through a GoFundMe HERE. We will continue to keep our families updated as additional opportunities to support the Loula family arise.

UPCOMING EVENTS & IMPORTANT INFORMATION!

Catholic Schools Week is Coming!!

We are finalizing the details for Catholic Schools Week and hope to get them out to families this week, so you can start making plans for awesome dress up days and all of the other fun! Please plan on joining us for parish Masses the weekend of January 28th and 29th. If students wear their uniform to Mass, they will get a non-uniform pass!

Registration for 2023-24!

It is hard to believe it, but it is time to start thinking about enrollment for the 2023-24 school year! Kindergarten is already full with a wait list and it is now time to re-enroll for students entering grades 1-8! As in the past, we will be using a continuous enrollment model this year for students currently enrolled in grades K-7. This means that current K-7 students will be automatically enrolled for the upcoming school year unless a family contacts us by Wednesday, February 1st. Families will then have the $150 registration fee on one of their February TADS statements. We sincerely hope that all of our K-7 families will still be with us next year. However, families that have a K-7 child who will not be returning are asked to contact Mr. Groebner by February 1st.   If you know transfer families who are interested in joining our school community, they can contact myself at agroebner@st-therese.org to sign up for a tour. We will open registration up to new families on Monday, February 6th for any available spots.

Recess Volunteers Still Needed!

Are you still looking to fill your volunteer requirement or simply looking to pad your resume for sainthood? We have some immediate recess needs on Wednesdays and Thursdays during these next 6 weeks. It is supposed to be a mild January! Check it out and sign up HERE!

St. Therese Catholic School Talent Show Friday, February 3rd, 2023 at 12:30 pm

We are excited about the St Therese Catholic School Talent Show to culminate Catholic Schools Week!

Students in first through eighth grade may sign up to participate in the School Talent Show (Kindergarten and 8th grade classrooms will do an act as a class/grade).

In the interest of time, each child may perform in one solo or one group act only. All acts need to audition after school on Thursday, January 26th at 2:15 pm in the music room. Auditioning students need to be fully prepared to perform. Please bring any costumes, props, instruments, and music being used in the act to auditions. This includes any mp3s for accompaniment with the appropriate cuts for the time limit.

Please fill out this form if your child wishes to participate. If it is a group performance, EACH child within the group must turn in their own slip with their parent’s signature. This form is due back to the school office by Wednesday, January 25th.

True North Parent Speaker Series / January 18 / 6:00 pm

Parents on Fire (Holy Family HS) is launching their True North Parent Speaker Series with presenter Allie Wagener, Ph.D., on Wednesday, January 18, at 6:00 p.m. at Holy Family. Dr. Wagener’s presentation is on resiliency: “We Don’t Need to Fix It: A Parent’s Guide to Navigating the Tough Questions.” Join us for an evening filled with great information and inspiration. We hope to see you there!

About our Guest Presenter: Allie Wagener, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist specializing in sport and performance psychology. She has provided clinical services to students, parents, athletes, and business professionals for over ten years, training top performers to reach their optimal potential. Consistent confidence, a growth mindset, and an ability to practice failure in pursuit of excellence are valued science-based techniques and topic areas. Following the speaker there will be a short break with refreshments as well as a small group discussion for anyone who wishes to stay.

Holy Family Basketball Youth Day Join in the fun and excitement of cheering on the FIRE when top-ranked Holy Family Catholic High School's boys and girls varsity basketball teams play back-to-back on Saturday, February 4, at 1 and 3 p.m. Download your ticket for free K-8 family admission, halftime fun, giveaways, and chances to win one of four signed basketballs at http://hfchs.org/fire-youth-events/. Go Fire!

February Friday Night Bash: SNOW TUBING @ Elm Creek Park Reserve

In February, we will be going snow tubing at the Elm Creek Park Reserve in Maple Grove! (Address: 12400 James Deane Pkwy, Maple Grove, MN 55369) We will be there on Friday, February 3rd from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm. The cost is $17, but scholarships are available, and adult chaperones can tube for free!

Please register by January 27th at this form.

A NOTE ABOUT CHAPERONES: We are really in need of adult chaperones to help us keep these events running smoothly and safe! If you or your middle schoolers have enjoyed FNB in the past, please consider volunteering for 1 or 2 chaperone shifts this year to keep this series possible. If we do not have enough chaperones on the Wednesday before a given event, it will be canceled. Chaperones need to be VIRTUS-certified, but email me if you haven’t completed that process, or aren’t sure. Sign-up for chaperone shifts is here.

A Belated Thank You from Mr. Groebner! From extremely thoughtful Christmas notes and gifts to the most heartwarming birthday cards, I just want to say THANK YOU! I was extremely touched and feel blessed everyday to be a part of this St. Therese School Community! I had the highest of intentions of writing notes. However, our family moved last weekend and I have been spending any spare time trying to help us get settled. But please know that I am grateful!

Basketball Season Is In Full Swing! We are excited for our 3 STS Basketball teams this season! Home games are listed above if you want to come cheer them on!

Virtue of the Month: Fortitude

St. Therese students all learn about a virtue each month through our Virtues in Practice curriculum. Each grade level also learns about saints that exemplify that virtue. This month, we are learning about Fortitude!
