Nevada Numbers: BDS Analytics Releases First Nevada Retail Sales Report

The report takes a close look at Nevada's December 2018 numbers and includes "Average Retail Prices in Nevada By Category," comparing December 2018 to the previous month. From the December Overview:
"In December, dispensaries in the Silver [S]tate generated $51.8 million in sales, a 1% decrease from November and a 16% increase from the previous December. 2018 sales through December were $580.1 million."
The report also includes sales numbers on flower, pre-rolls, concentrates, ingestibles, and topicals as well as category share percentages and percentage growth from November 2018.

Faculty Spotlight: Jo Piña

A regular instructor in NDA's education offerings, Jo Piña is a certified safety professional and an expert in OSHA standards that include Powered Industrial Trucks, Hazard Communication, Lockout/Tagout, and Bloodborne Pathogens. In addition to her Bachelor of Science and City Planning Masters, Jo holds a Certificate in Occupational Safety and Health from the University of California, Irvine. She is OSHA 30 hour certified and is a member of the American Society of Safety Professionals.

Legislative Highlight

On Mon., March 11, Assemblyman Steve Yeager presented Assembly Bill 164 to the Assembly Judiciary Committee. Nevada Dispensary Association Executive Director Riana Durrett, Esq. was on hand to present the bill, which would impose certain requirements relating to advertising by a marijuana establishment and a medical marijuana establishment; revise provisions relating to medical marijuana establishment agents; provide for the registration of agents who work or volunteer at or contract with a marijuana establishment; revise provisions relating to disciplinary action against a medical marijuana establishment agent and a marijuana establishment agent; and authorize civil penalties for certain violations relating to advertising.

NDA is also closely following the progress of Senate Bill 238, sponsored by Senator Yvanna Cancela, which would require a member of the Nevada Tax Commission to have certain experience relating to legalized marijuana; create the Responsible Use of Marijuana Public Education Committee within the Department of Taxation; establish the powers and duties of the Committee; require the establishment of a statewide hotline to report suspected unlicensed sales of marijuana; authorize the transfer of a medical marijuana establishment registration certificate and a license to operate a marijuana establishment in certain circumstances; revise provisions relating to inventory control systems; prohibit the use of a third party by a medical marijuana dispensary or retail marijuana store to sell marijuana and related products; and establish requirements relating to the delivery of marijuana and related products to a consumer. SB238 is not yet scheduled for hearing in committee.
