Welcome to our June newsletter! We have a couple of pieces of Community Council news for you. First, as you may have seen, we have a shiny new noticeboard, near the top of Belmont Street, opposite the church. Please keep an eye on it for notices of our events and other news items!
Our other main news is that we are having an interim election this summer because we have six vacancies on the council. We would love to see some more members of the community step up to join us! It would help us raise our profile and do that bit more. The noticeboard is an example of what we can get done if we put our mind to it, but it's not easy with only a small number of councillors. Please think of joining if you can. We're all volunteers and it's rewarding to get involved.
Full details about the election including the nomination form are on our website. If you are interested in finding out more, have a chat with us if you see us at one of the events below or get in touch (see contact details at the bottom of the page). Please note the closing date is noon on Friday 27 July.
Another couple of dates: the postponed public consultation on the proposed new primary school will take place on Thursday 21 June (between 2pm and 7.30pm, in the Attic Hall, Maryhill Burgh Halls: see our website for full details) and Queen Margaret Drive will host the annual Street Festival on Sunday 24 June.
We don't have a meeting in July but will be back on Tuesday 7th August at the usual place and time, 6.30pm, St Charles Church Hall, 1 Kelvinside Gardens, G20 6BG. We hope to see some of you there!
