Our April meeting is tonight, Tuesday 18th, 6.30pm, at the usual place, St Charles' Church Hall, 1 Kelvinside Gardens, G20 6BG. On the agenda: reports by the police, city councillors, our treasurer, planning officer, secretary and web manager, and any other items brought to our attention. All residents are welcome to attend.
Our next clean-up is Yarrow Gardens Lane on Saturday 22nd April, 10.30am to 12.30pm. We'll provide all equipment required as well as refreshments. Come along for even half an hour if you can, chat to your neighbours and have the satisfaction of making a difference.
Elections to the City Council are coming up on Thursday 4 May: remember to use your vote! There have been changes to the ward boundaries and North Kelvin is now divided between Hillhead, Maryhill and Canal. You can find out where your polling place is and who is standing for election in your ward by entering your postcode on the City Council website. We will be seeing new faces as the councillors who previously represented us are retiring. We are grateful to those who came to our meetings and dealt with issues we raised, and we sincerely hope the newly elected councillors will be regular attenders!
Finally, and unfortunately, there has been a spate of house burglaries and thefts from cars in the area. The police remind everyone not to leave valuables in view or in your car, and not to leave ground-floor doors unlocked or windows open when you're out. And don't keep your car keys within easy reach of an intruder. Remember, thieves are on the look-out for easy opportunities.
