Fundraising at The Lowbrow - Board Meeting Highlights
Thank You! - Wish List - Laketrails Calendar - Salute to CWs

You are invited to have fun, raise funds May 1

Join your fellow Laketrailers for an evening of food and fun in the camp-themed south Minneapolis eatery, The Lowbrow on Monday, May 1. We need at least 60 Laketrailers to come and eat between 6-8 p.m. and The Lowbrow will donate 10% of the proceeds to the camp! Everyone is invited — guides, CWs, Board members, and Laketrails campers old and new. Will there be lots of Laketrails stories? For sure! Will you see someone you know? No doubt! Will we sing camp songs? Quite possibly. Mark your calendar and bring your family and friends to The Lowbrow, 4244 Nicollet Ave, Minneapolis.

January Board Meeting Highlights
The Board met Jan. 28 with the purpose of reviewing Board responsibilities and vision for the next 10 years regarding what our camp focus will be going forward. It was determined that the envisioning will take more time and broader input than Board members only, so a day will be set aside this fall to focus on mission and vision for the camp's future.

The working part of the Board meeting included:
  • financials - improved from previous years at this time of year
  • camp director’s report - ahead of usual schedule for staff and camper recruiting
  • no new large expensive projects needed - the well is in and working
  • progress report from fund raising committee - a fun event is being planned
  • progress report on updating alumni contact information
In summary, the camp is on a healthy path currently and is enriched by the commitment of people from a variety of ages, backgrounds, and experience with Laketrails.
~ Sue Koprowski, Laketrails Board President

Thank you, Sue!
A huge thank you to Sue Koprowski as she steps down as Laketrails Board President. Sue served the camp in that capacity for the past six years and in that time has kept us paddling in the right direction. Thank you for your leadership and dedicated service to Laketrails, Sue!

Annual Meeting April 1
The Laketrails Annual Corporation Meeting will be April 1, 9 a.m. at Benilde-St. Margaret High School. Corporate members and anyone interested in the future of Laketrails are encouraged to attend.

With sincere appreciation...
In 2016, Laketrails received more than 120 donations from individuals and families totaling $81,955!

Your financial support of Laketrails enables the camp to continue to offer perhaps the most unique wilderness canoeing and camping experience for youth in the state. We know these donations come from the heart -- from people who attended Laketrails themselves or whose children and grandchildren are attending now. Your belief in the power that trees, water, canoes and an island, can have in a young person's life continues to make Laketrails successful.

This year's Wish List has a few hold overs from last year plus some new needs. The good news is that this list is born from many trips into beautiful Lake of the Woods by hundreds of campers. The wear and tear on our materials is all worth it!  From our hearts to yours, thank you again for your ongoing support of Laketrails!

Salute to CWs
Laketrails' camper workers (CWs..."C-dubs") are unsung heros. They are guides' valued helpers on trail and the doers of all variety of chores at base camp. They keep the island mowed, the boats shiny and clean, and the outhouses smelling sweet, all while demonstrating the beauty of team work. And for many, being a CW is the first step toward becoming a guide. As you can see by the photos, CWs have been benefitting Laketrails and its campers for many, many years. Thanks CWs, past and present, for the many contributions you have made and continue to make!
