MSUA Welcomes New Member - iDirect Government!

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Catherine A. Melquist

This week, MSUA welcomes iDirect Government as our newest corporate member!  iDirect Government
delivers secure satellite-based voice, video and data applications including advanced satellite IP solutions used for critical ISR, airborne, maritime and COTM communications to support logistics, situational awareness, disaster recovery and emergency response. iDirect supports customers in multiple federal, state and local government agencies, including the Department of Defense. Again, welcome IDirect and congratulations on your 10-year anniversary!

Also this week, I had the pleasure of interviewing Nathan Kundtz, President and CEO of Kymeta at NAB New York.  An MSUA corporate member, Kymeta is an innovative telecommunications company that is on track to radically expand the mobile connectivity market. In the interview, Nathan likened the growing need for Internet access to pizza delivery in that individuals are deciding when, where, how, and what content they want to consume. Extending the analogy further, Nathan said flat panel antennas will approximate the size of a pizza box and the ease of use they will offer, together with low latency LEO-based satellite connectivity, will make internet access and uses as simple and as prevalent as ordering a pizza. He further elaborated on what this change will mean to the connected car, the Internet of Things and the broadcast industry. Thank you Nathan for the great interview and I look forward to hearing ongoing news and roll-out updates from Kymeta.
