Experience VOX in August and September 2017
Dear VOX supporter

It has been a month since "Trust the Silences (Once More)", our most ambitious choral project so far, and we would like to thank you for your enthusiastic support! Enjoy a gallery of special moments from the evening, courtesy of Alun Marchant, below. Exciting news is that we are busy putting the finishing touches to our very first album. We are also working hard on several new projects and invite you to keep warm this winter by joining us in August and September for two special choral events:

>> On
Thursday 3 August 2017, VOX teams up with Groot Constantia, the oldest wine-producing estate in South Africa, for an exclusive pairing of their renowned wines with beautiful choral music from the Renaissance to the 21st Century.

TIME | 19h30 for 20h00
VENUE | The Tasting Cellar (Bertram’s Cellar) at Groot Constantia
Kindly note that limited space is available for this unique, multisensory experience.

>> On Friday 1 September and Saturday 2 September 2017 at 20h00, VOX Cape Town presents the third instalment of its popular “New Soundscapes” series. Entitled “Northern Lights: A Baltic Voyage”, this new project will take place at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Somerset Road, Cape Town.

The concert will feature music by a smorgasbord of composers from the Baltic region including Arvo Pärt (Estonia), Henryk Górecki (Poland), Ola Gjeilo (Norway), Ēriks Ešenvalds (Latvia) and Jaakko Mäntyjärvi (Finland). Tickets at R160 (or R120 for seniors and students) may be reserved by emailing us at To fully immerse yourself in the special atmosphere of this region, join us from 19h15 for a cup of steaming glühwein!
The Closing Chapter of the "Trust the Silences" Journey
VOX presented “Trust the Silences (Once More)” on Friday 21st of April, its most immersive concert yet, to a sold-out audience of over 400 in the Bishops Memorial Chapel. Gentle lighting by Tara Notcutt enhanced the pre-performance atmosphere as Bronwyn van Wieringen (piano) played fragments from the musical programme, inviting listeners to embrace the soundscapes of the evening.

Still headed by the unleashed kinetic energy of “Cloudburst” (featuring percussionists Dylan Tabisher and Cherilee Adams), this year’s programme included brand new pieces by Eric Whitacre, Ēriks Ešenvalds, Radiohead and The Cinematic Orchestra. Guest vocalist Richard Brokensha presented the deeply moving songs “To Build A Home” (The Cinematic Orchestra) and “Exit Music (For A Film)” by Radiohead, with VOX replacing the synthesised choir in the latter track. An organ rendition of “Fly to Paradise” performed and transcribed by Johan van der Walt provided a climactic finale to our journey of sound and silence.
We are thrilled to announce that our very first album, featuring repertoire from our "Trust the Silences" journey, is currently in the making! If you were unable to join us in April or if you would like to take VOX's unique choral sound home with you, keep an eye on our website and your inbox for more information.
