VOX Cape Town is excited to announce its next performance which celebrates contemporary choral music in the glorious acoustic of the Memorial Chapel, Bishops, on Saturday 5 November at 8 pm.
“Above all, trust the silences.” – Inscription on the musical score for "When David Heard" (Eric Whitacre)
Following VOX's first major performance in September this year, you are invited on a completely different musical journey in which contrast is the main protagonist in an interplay of styles and atmospheres representing day and night.
Trust the Silences features the lush harmonies and shimmering chords of Eric Whitacre (b. 1970, United States) alongside ethereal music by Ēriks Ešenvalds (b. 1977, Latvia) and the hypnotic soundscapes of the alternative rock group, Radiohead. The centrepiece of this performance is a pairing of two very human settings of “When David Heard” by Thomas Tomkins (1572-1656, England) and Eric Whitacre. The programme also features the dramatic, percussive “Cloudburst” as well as music written for an animated movie that was never produced. To top it off, we are thrilled to announce that we will feature the vocal talents of Richard Brokensha, lead singer of local band ISO.
Join us for this one of a kind experience and reserve your seat! Tickets may be paid for at the door (R120 or R80 for seniors and students).
