California Dreaming | New Works | Erin Lee Gafill | May 14 - June 26

Longtime Placewares friend Erin Lee Gafill, returns to the gallery on May 7 with California Dreaming, new works inspired by dreams of Coastal California.  Erin has been in the studio creating a brand new body of work, both landscape and still life. Inspired by the unique light of the California Coast, these new landscapes are color rich with a glowing palette and sense of mood. Pieces will begin to arrive in early May with the exhibit formally opening May 14.

Erin will also be exhibiting new still life oils in brilliant hues in brightly-lit settings, celebrating the sheer perfection of spring fruit: tangerines, lemons and their leaves, fresh off the tree. These intimate renderings of fruits and flowers, cobalt blue cups and Chinese ginger jars, are inspired by her grandmother’s collection of beautiful objects.

Tools by Bjorn Dahlstrom 1998

Iittala Tools Björn Dahlström
Ready, Set, Cook.

Superb quality. Incredible hand feel. Suitable for all heating elements. Built to last a lifetime. What more could a budding gourmet cook ask for?

In Placewares' test kitchen - aka home - we tested a sautéuse. Since then, our French enamelware has been a bit jealous of its Tools competition.

Essense by Alfredo Häberli 2001

Red and white. Stem and no stem. We have your wine flights covered with last-a-lifetime quality and style.

Additional Essense glasses - beer glass, cocktail bowl, champagne, sherry - and a decanter are available by special order shipped to you front door or available for in-store pickup.

Collective Tools by Antonio Citterio 2000

Iittala Collective Tools

Our obsession with these serving tools started over breakfast in Helsinki.

Luckily for us, they are a staple in Scandinavian kitchens, so no matter where we went Collective Tools were there to say, "Good Morning."  Who knew plating food could be an event in and of itself?

Kastelhelmi by Oiva Toikka 1964

Iittala Kastehelmi cake standJoining its 12.5" sister is the slightly more diminutive 9.5" cake stand. In between cakes and pastries, we use ours to display fruit so we have an excuse to have it sit out everyday. Our lemons have never been more pleased.

The Finnish word “kastehelmi” means “dewdrop,” which refers to the small glass beads in its design. Creating a stacked 12.5" and 9.5" Kastehelmi tower is a visual feast of light and texture.
