An upcoming free online webinar will focus on the two biggest energy uses in the home: space conditioning and water heating. The webinar will help you navigate the technology and product choices involved in selecting water heaters and home heating/cooling equipment. Other significant energy users like fridges will also be discussed.
The presentations will be made by leading home energy and consumer experts from the independent, national not-for-profit organisations Renew and Choice. They will also discuss where to find and how to use online resources (e.g. product comparison tools) that can help households make smart choices.
WHEN: 6.00 pm - 7.30 pm Thu 12 November

Narooma Men's Shed solar install
41 Barker Parade, Narooma
SHASA recently received a $10,850 grant to install a solar system with 3 phase power on the new Narooma Men's Shed. Micro Energy Systems Australia (MESA) installed a 9.45kW PV systems in October. Through efficiencies, MESA was able to install a slightly bigger system than the one we had identified in the grant application at no extra cost. This is another example of MESA's generosity towards the community sector.
SHASA is very happy to be have been able to work with the Narooma Men's Shed to secure funding for a solar system. They do amazing work and their new facility is incredible. This project is part of SHASA's community facility solar program.
SHASA Repair Cafe Update
We continue to grow. We have four repair teams:
clothing (need more volunteers)
anything that can be repaired with string, glue or tape
We encourage you to check out the Repair Cafe on Fridays between 9 am – 12 noon, Red Door Hall, St Johns Parish, Moruya. This is our practical way of reducing the good being thrown out rather than repaired. It is also an opportunity to build community connections, share skills and chat over a good quality coffee and homemade yummy food.

No stopping solar/batteries
One Step off the Grid reports that the pandemic and the bush-fires have both ultimately helped drive greater uptake of rooftop solar among households. The summer of bushfires had an acceleration effect, as people bought solar for increased self-sufficiency and environmental concern. Covid dampened growth in May, but then growth returned with vigour as people worked from home.
Please contact Kathryn Maxwell on 0467 558 645 is you would like a quote from MESA, SHASA's solar bulk buy partner.
