Qualifying for Nationals

2016 National Championship are 2 and a half months away, and we understand that some parents do not know how their kid qualifies- which is fair enough as it is complicated.

Your daughter will be expected to compete at a minimum of 3 sanctioned competitions during the season. If your daughter does more than 3+ competitions, her lowest scores will be dropped and only her 3 highest scores from the competition season will be calculated. The 3 scores are averaged to come up with the gymnasts qualification mark.

The SDC at Gymsports has put a maximum of 20 competitors per grade. Your daughter is ranked with everyone (north and south island) in her grade. Some grades have less than 20 and some have 40+ in the entire country, which is why even though your daughter may have gotten the qualification score, they could not be qualified as they are placed 21st in the country.

We understand that Levels 4-6 are massive grades and are highly competitive as the gymnasts need to get the qualification mark and be in the top 20.

The Auckland Team will be announced a couple of days after North Shore International. We will do our best to get this out to you all as soon as possible. Please bare with us.

We will also be sending a note within the next few weeks to all families of gymnasts who are level 4 upwards, stage 3 upwards and Group 3 upwards, asking for their intention to attend NZ Nationals.  That way we can confirm intention to compete to Gymsports, which will allow those who are ranked in top 20 in their level, and who have achieved qualification score, and who have advised they will go to Invercargill to compete in NZ Nationals, to be selected.
Good luck to Trinity, Stella, and Havana who are competing at this weekend's South Island Championship in Christchurch!
Stella and Havana are trailing on Sunday for an event in Namibia. You will be great .
Congratulations to the girls who competed at Spiralz!

It is very exciting seeing all girls improve and working hard towards nationals.
