Come along and see our talented young performers as they tread the boards for this very special Lieder Youth Theatre production.
Adapted from an old Chinese fable, and featuring 23 of Goulburn's best and brightest young performers, The Circle of Chalk will be performed 4 times only from 20-22 July.
Set in the Scottish Highlands and following the story of an orphaned clan heir, the production has been adapted and directed by drama teacher Jock McLean.
The Circle of Chalk is derived from a 14th Century Chinese fable and playwright Bertolt Brecht's classic re-telling of the same story in his 'Caucasian Chalk Circle' from 1944.
Now the same well-known story will be told in a brand new interpretation written especially for Goulburn's young performers, who have been rehearsing and preparing the production for many months with teacher and director Jock McLean.
The ensemble consists 23 performers aged 10-15 years, and features themes such as showing bravery in the face of danger, and giving people a fair go. Capturing a wonderfully refreshing and youthful outlook on the world, The Chalk Circle will delight people of all ages.

Congratulations!

AACT WorldFest
A huge congratulations to the 15 Lieder Theatre members who traveled to the United States in June to perform 2 shows at the AACT WorldFest in Venice, Florida.
The group performed an acrobatic fire show and our recent production of Monochrome at the festival, both of which were hugely successful and very positively received.

Congratulations also to the team on winning the following adjudicator's awards for theatrical excellence at the festival:
Monochrome - Outstanding choreography
Monochrome - Outstanding athleticism as a theatrical aesthetic
Monochrome - Outstanding lighting design
Monochrome - Blake Selmes - Outstanding performance in a central role
Fire Show - Special award for firing up the festival and fanning the flames of friendship

Check the theatre's Facebook page for a wonderful video played at the Festival's closing ceremony, featuring footage of the Lieder's performances.

Periphery - 19-21 October

Periphery is shaping up to be an incredible weekend of workshops, discussions and networking, culminating in performances examining theatre as a tool for social change.

Our special guests will be Teatr Brama. Hailing from Goleniow, Poland, Teatr Brama are expert practitioners of Social Community Theatre. They revolutionise the relationship between audience and theatre by utilising performance to create a participatory meeting, not a spectator activity.

We are welcoming all those who may wish to create, collaborate, discuss, perform, engage, network or share. Contact us now to find out how you can be part of Periphery.
