"Girls I think your father's dead. I knocked his knees out. I conked his head. I shot that house clown in the neck."
In a dirt-dry town in rural Australia, a shot shatters the still night. A mother and her daughters have just welcomed home the man of the house - with a crack in the shins and a bullet in the neck. The only issue now is disposing of the body.
Triggered into thrilling motion by an act of revenge, The Bleeding Tree is rude, rhythmical, and irreverently funny. Imagine a traditional murder ballad blown up for the stage, set against a deceptively deadly Aussie backdrop, with three fierce females fighting back.
With his brutal and brutally funny wordplay, Angus Cerini's The Bleeding Tree won the 2014 Griffin Award for Australian writers.

Arti Grabowski

On top of a full program of foyer and mainstage performances, we will be hosting several international guests in 2019. This is an incredible opportunity for us all to experience theatre styles and practitioners from all over the world.

Our first guest is Arti Grabowski, a prolific performance artist from Poland. "Grabowski is one of the most active and appreciated Polish performance artists of his generation. Entertaining, horrifying, challenging, and never boring, the physical action images created by Grabowski reveal the absurd, chaotic, and ironic layers of society and human behaviour.

Working with Arti and witnessing his performance will provide a unique chance to add to your actor's toolbox. For many in our company, it will be an exciting opportunity to explore a different approach to theatre and performance, strengthening and stretching skills and ideas.
Arti Grabowski lives and works in Krakow, Poland. An interdisciplinary artist, including performance, painting, directing, film producing and event planning, Arti holds a PhD in sculpture and performance art from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow, and is headmaster of Poland's first studio of performance art, bringing his 20 years of artistic knowledge and performance experience to students of all ages.

Host families and volunteers needed

Be a part of our international program in 2019!!
For those of you who were part of Periphery last year, you'll already know what a magical experience it is to have international guests at the theatre and in our lives and homes, if only for a short period of time.
We have another exciting international program planned for 2019. It was upon Teatr Brama's glowing recommendation and now enduring love for Goulburn and our community that we are able to welcome our guests from abroad this year, and we'd like to once again showcase our wonderful hospitality and warmth.

We're looking for your help with the following:

Accommodation - a host family to accommodate Arti Grabowski from Wednesday 6th February for approximately one week
Transport - someone to collect Arti from Sydney airport in the early evening of Wednesday 6th February
Food - people to provide meals for Arti (lunch and dinner) in their home, at the theatre, or perhaps downtown (this would be a great opportunity to get to know Arti on a more personal level)
More Food - people to contribute food towards a supper on Saturday 9th February
Excursions - people who might enjoy sharing some sight-seeing or cultural experiences with Arti (e.g. the beach, Canberra, Bungonia Gorge etc.), or who may be available to transport Arti to other theatre groups (most likely Canberra)

In the April school holidays we will host a children's theatre company from Nepal. More details about their visit, including the program of performances and workshops, will be available soon.
We will be hosting 3 adults and 12 children aged 10-12 years old, many of whom will be on their very first international trip.
We are currently seeking families who may be interested in hosting some of our guests from Nepal from approximately Easter Saturday 20th April for one week (exact flight details yet to be confirmed). You would be providing accommodation, breakfasts, and some evening meals. In return you'll get to know some wonderful young theatre makers, and help make memories to cherish for many years to come.
More details about hosting our Nepalese visitors will be discussed at an information session in early March when we have more details about their trip and the program of events.

If you  have any questions, would like to express an interest, or want to get involved in either of these exciting opportunities, please contact Amelia Whalley-Routley on 0403 217 120, email or get in touch via Facebook
