While the Monochrome team have been away in Poland, we have been busy building and painting a set, and rehearsing under the guidance of guest director Christine Bentley. Christine’s 1989 Lieder stage debut was under the direction of John Spicer in Nude With Violin, the first of many performances. Her other talents and interests include supporting our wardrobe co-ordinator Pauline Mullen, singing, travel, learning new languages and being an enthusiastic participant in yoga and pilates. Christine was Assistant Director of last year’s The Touch of Silk.
The cast of five includes well known locals David Rayner, Steph Warden, Brian Hill, Shane Daly and newcomer to the Lieder stage, Helena Bozetto. The play is a thriller and more of a why-dunnit than a who-dunnit. It is set in 1939 in Provence, just as the Second World War is about to begin. It is written by English writer, Brian Clemens, who is best known for the television series The Avengers and The Professionals.
