Lenny, played by Martin Sanders, lives alone. Once a busy GP at the epicentre of a vibrant family, he how has no recollection of the live he has led. These days, life's chief adventure, re-lived each day, is tracking down the remote control.
Into this rather desolate and shapeless life steps Lola, played by Fiona Churchill, a friendly visitor sent from the local council. What she finds is a stubbornly independent man who sees no reason why this stranger has entered his home. Lenny believes Lola to be a patient, an electrician, the home help, a nurse. He plays the piano, although there is no piano. Instead, he plays the table-top, the TV - any flat surface he can find.
Over time a remarkable friendship blossoms, and Lola's life changes as Lenny gives her a precious gift and she begins to hear the music that he is playing.
'A Tree, Falling' has about it a gentle humour, built into the fabric of a poignant, subtly profound work that seeks to probe the centrality of human memory as a means to understanding the meaning of human existence. Along the way themes of identity, loss, the passage of time, and our connections to one another weave a unique and wonderfully human story that speaks to us of the essence of what it means to be alive.

A Tree, Falling stars two of the Lieder's most experienced actors, Martin Sanders, and Fiona Churchill, ably assisted by an excellent production crew consisting of Sarah Harris, Hannah Cotton, Ben Pik, Pauline Mullen, and Steph Warden.
We also welcome guest director Dave Letch and producer Defrim Isai of duende productions to the Lieder Theatre, and thank them for bringing this wonderful production to Goulburn audiences.
