Upcoming Events

The Dainere’s Rainbow Team have had such a busy couple of Months working tirelessly and inspired by Dainere advocating within the Community for increased awareness and the crucial need for more funding for children diagnosed with paediatric brain tumour, which tragically remains the number one disease killer of children in Australia and with the loss of two more precious children in June to Medulloblastoma, the same tumour as Dainere had, it highlights the desperate need for many more voices to unite in the Community to take action and create change.

On a cold and drizzly Canberran evening ghouls, goblins, ghosts, zombies and more arrived at The Abbey in Gold Creek for the GroupOne Spooktacular hosted by Dainere's Rainbow Brain Tumour Research Fund.

The purpose of this Gala Dinner was to "Scare Brain Cancer Away" and raise funds to go to paediatric brain tumour research at the Sydney Children's Hospital.
The Dainere's Rainbow team are honoured, humbled and delighted to announce that a phenomenal total of $40,009.00 was raised from the gala dinner with 100% of that money going directly to research.

Dainere made a significant impact on the Canberra Community and beyond, she inspired many, leaving lasting footprints on their hearts and lives. She was a selfless and prolific awareness and fundraiser and her greatest wish in life was that cure for the disease that would steal her young life would one day become a reality so no other children would have to face the suffering she did.

A team of Gungahlin locals have signed up for the world’s largest fun run, City2Surf in Sydney to raise money for Dainere’s Rainbow Brain Tumour Research Fund. The 2018 City2Surf will be the sixth time competing for Jarrett Anthoney in the run as well as fundraising for much needed awareness and funds for Dainere's Rainbow Brain Tumour Research Fund, supporting The Sydney Children's Hospital Foundation.

Dainere's Rainbow is a charity set up by Jarrett's family which gives 100% of funds raised and donated directly to Childhood Brain Tumour Research. Dainere, Jarrett's little sister, was only 15 years old when she tragically passed away in 2013 from her Brain Tumour.

In 2013 before she passed away, together they planned that Jarrett could raise funds for Paediatric Brain Tumour Research through running in the City2Surf and having a fundraising page. He has done this for the past 6 City2Surf runs and will continue to each year to get ever closer to finding a cure for this insidious disease.

For the past two years Mark from My Gungahlin has supported Jarrett in running City2Surf as a team. Jarrett being a little faster than Mark runs ahead to clear the path for Mark to come through sometime much later... This year Mark's wife, Nicole will run her first City2Surf as part of Dainere's Rainbow Team along with Chanel Bernal running her second City2Surf.

Last year Jarrett ran a time which qualified him to start in the preferred group (up in the front area) this year, he is looking to smashing his time even more this year, hopefully smash the amount of fundraising also!!

Last year Mark took 17 minutes off his previous years’ time and is looking to achieve another big PB.

Chanel is keen to beat her time last year and has found inspiration in Mark’s result from last year.

Nicole is looking forward to the event and is focussed finishing and raising as much money as she can for the cause.

You can support the team by sharing and donating

Let’s give them a fundraising push up heartbreak hill and to a record amount of $10,000 this year.

"Did you know that it costs $25 per month to fund supplements to keep brain cancer cells growing in a test tube?"

Dramatic Productions is Gungahlin’s first theatre company providing high quality theatrical entertainment to the Canberra region. Established in 2014, it opened its first major musical, Into the Woods, in 2015, to great critical acclaim. The show was nominated for, and won numerous awards, cementing Dramatic Productions place in the Canberra theatre landscape.

Into the Woods was followed, in 2016, by the lively and colourful Canberra debut production of Catch Me If You Can, with its leading star winning the Canberra Critic Circle award for best leading actor. In 2017, Dramatic Productions staged the dark and captivating story of Sweeney Todd - the Demon Barber of Fleet Street.
This year, in 2018, Dramatic Productions is yet again debuting another exciting major musical, the high energy, fun and funny - Heathers.

Heathers is based on the 80’s movie of the same name, that starred Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. The musical adaptation, while light-hearted, also touches on the serious issues of bullying and violence in schools. Although not for the young ones, this wonderfully entertaining show is sure to have your toes tapping and bellies laughing.

Dramatic Productions prides itself on the high quality of its shows and the opportunity it gives to local performers to practice their craft, on their way to a professional career.

Come and support your local theatre scene and have a fabulous time!
Heathers opens at the Gungahlin Theatre on the 12th October and closes on the 27th October.

Better treatments are urgently needed, and the key to this is a better understanding of the biology of brain cancer cells. This information can then be used to develop innovative and highly selective treatments for all paediatric brain tumours.

Dainere's Rainbow is a not for profit organisation - 100% of all funds raised or donated go to paediatric brain tumour research at Sydney Children's Hospital
