DreamWorker Link of LoveLink of Love continued supporting the unemployed in several community schools during 2016. Parents worked as class room assistants, security guards, prepared food in the school kitchens, cleaned, helped with maintenance and even chopped down trees. Whatever the need has been in the schools, unemployed parents have been given the opportunity to lend a hand to brighten their children’s schools ….and our schools have been truly grateful for all the help rendered!

We even reached out into our rural community last year, brightening lives in the little town of Philadelphia. Clothing and school shoes were gifted to the children, bringing sunny smiles all round. One young man who lost his mother unexpectedly was helped to fund her funeral costs and more. A never ending Link of Love.

The elderly folk from Gugulethu have their homes cleaned by unemployed people as part of the Link of Love programme out in that community.

This year we also brightened their lives by gathering in coloured cushions for the Lukhanyo Seniors Centre as well as fabrics, wool, felt tip pens,  paper and pensioner toiletry packs. Plus a fabulous lunch was enjoyed by all, including traditional song and dance beforehand!

And finally, we ended 2016 with a special treat for the residents of Hanover Park Cottages….an “Ageless Grace” Christmas party! They danced in their chairs, they were treated to hand massages, a lovely tea and a small gift to take home. And yes, the love truly flowed and all our lives were brightened, both those who gave and those who received.

Help us to brighten the lives of unemployed parents working in community schools in 2017. Your R100 will go towards enabling an unemployed parent to buy a “Back to School” stationery pack while giving the school much needed support.

Help us to brighten the lives of the elderly in 2017. R100 will get one unemployed person working…..and make sure an elderly person’s home has a springclean to start the year.
