Happy New Year!

Welcome back to the water - what a great start to 2018.
So far we have over 680 members who have either re- joined or joined us new.
Keep spreading the word - especially around the pool or at the beach and maybe a gentle nudge to those who you know have not yet re-newed.
If you did not see the new MSA cap for sale when joining do not fear they are still on offer.
So far we have seen 8 successful swims held in the 2017-18 Great Victorian Swim Series 
and Masters Swimmers are doing incredibly well. Checkout the wonderful images from each swim below (Thanks Gina and crew) - are you able to pick yourself out?
Saturday 10 February will see the first pool swim of 2018 with the 26th Malvern Marlins Interclub being held at Harold Holt Pool - entries close Monday 3 February.
The Queens Baton Relay gets underway in Victoria on the 10 February in St Kilda and finishes 17 February in Mildura - MSV Ambassador Chloë McCardel will be doing her bit around 8.40am 10 February in St Kilda - if you know any Masters Swimmers taking part please let us know so we can celebrate them.
Lastly are you keen to travel - Technical Officials needed for N18! Help make the N18 one of the best in Australia and 'The best in the west!'

2018 Swim Series
The MSA Swim Series has got some exciting mix of Long and Short Course meets across Australia again in 2018. It rewards members’ participation and performance in any of the Meets, with members only needing to swim two meets to be eligible for prizes.  The more Meets you enter, the better the multiplier for your points.  The first meet is on the
14 - 17 March 2018 - MSQ State Championships
18 - 21 April 2018

Swim to the Rings

After a long absence the Ballarat Lake Swim is back and it has been rejuvenated by the Ballarat Triathlon Cub to captivate both the competitive and not so competitive swimmers. Re-named the ‘Swim to the Rings’ this annual event is an opportunity to be part of a unique event that spans along the 1956 Olympic Rowing Course.They are offering a 15% discount to MSV members.ENTER
Progressive GVSS points now available and GVSS are aware there are some adjustments to be made....i.e....rogue swimmers Gina Harris & Lou Lockwood should not be listed in the Non-Wetsuit category!  Some great images below from the swims that have already taken place.

Swimmers from the Catfish have already been busy busy busy this year - read their great wrap from their Open Water Swims.
Glamourhead Sharks
The Glams got salty in January with a great turnout at the Mount Martha Australia Day Swim and made it back onto dry land for the Midsumma Pride March to wrap up a wonderful long weekend. There was even time in between for Glams  Captain Kodie Webb to snag silver in the Queenscliff180. 16 Glamourheads will be participating in the 24 Hour MS Megaswim at Fitzroy Pool in February, donations can be made towards the Glams team here and we look forward to seeing any fellow MSV members making a splash for MS.
Malvern Marlins
Once again the Marlins have got off to a wonderful start to the swimming year and not only are they competing in the Open Water they took part in the virtual lap of Australia. Want to know more about the Marlins - you cannot go past their FUN FACTS
