CASA Alma’s Christ Rooms - temporary housing for the working homeless

Christ Rooms” is a network organized by CASA Alma that consists of:
  • Host households will open a room in their homes to receive a guest for a defined length of time – whatever the host can joyfully offer. We recommend a minimum of 12 weeks.
  • Guests may include: women recovering from domestic abuse, refugees whose formal support has ended, immigrants, young adults exiting foster care, and people recovering from illness or trauma.
  • Support households will assist hosts through regular calls and check-in times, and through occasional offers of meals or transportation.

Laura Brown, Coordinator of Christ Rooms for CASA Alma, would love to present this program to your congregation.
Stuart Munson, Community Resource Specialist, UVA Human Resources/FEAP, is working with Laura to connect UVA staff in need of housing with host households in our community on a temporary basis.
Laura and Stuart gave a presentation at our Dec. 18 CCC Meeting and distributed this handout.
