“Second Amendment Sanctuary” - public comments at Albemarle County Board of Supervisors meeting

Wednesday, December 18, time for public comments at both 1 pm and 6 pm at Albemarle County Board of Supervisors Meeting, Lane Auditorium, Second Floor, County Office Building, 401 McIntire Rd.

We need folks to show up at the Albemarle County Board of Supervisors (BOS) meeting and voice concern about gun violence and the “2nd Amendment Sanctuary” movement. Sign-ups for public comment are open 24 hours before the Dec. 18 meeting, and will likely fill up quickly if the VCDL is still working on passing a 2nd Amendment Sanctuary resolution in our community. To sign up to speak at the next BOS meeting: https://www.albemarle.org/bosspeakers/

Background: Phil Woodson from First United Methodist Church sent this information expressing deep concern about Virginia counties and localities passing resolutions to become a “2nd Amendment Sanctuary” as a precaution against any new gun legislation passed by the General Assembly in January. This movement is organized by the Virginia Citizen’s Defense League (VCDL), and they have been packing people at Board of Supervisors meetings (like the one in Augusta County) to persuade the board to vote on a "sanctuary" resolution.
