Putting White Supremacy on Trial: A Briefing for Faith Leaders

Join Integrity First for America (IFA) on the anniversary of the violence – and just two months before trial begins in Charlottesville – to hear from IFA Executive Director Amy Spitalnick, plaintiff Rev. Seth Wispelwey, and other faith leaders on this landmark lawsuit and the fight for accountability and justice.

Advocate for Gun Safety Ordinance in Albemarle County

August 18th via Zoom at 6 p.m.
The next Board of Supervisors meeting will be August 18th via Zoom at 6 p.m. The Charlottesville Coalition for Gun Violence Prevention is asking people to speak in favor of the Ordinance No. 21-10.  Last month the Board heard from many pro-gun activists, but few spoke on the other side of the issue.  Visit this webpage to sign up to speak. APPOINTMENTS AND WALK-IN VACCINES ARE AVAILABLE!

Blue Ridge Health District COVID Information

  • BRHD COVID-19 Hotline - 434-972-6261
    Open Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm, the BRHD COVID-19 Resource Hotline is staffed by trained operators who are ready to assist with providing local information and resources for questions about vaccines, testing, mandates, and more. 
  • Direct VAMS Access Link to Schedule Vaccine Appointments - Community members can use this link to schedule their own appointments at BRHD vaccine clinics. It will require registration in VAMS, but all those 16+ in BRHD will be eligible using this link. Individuals can also call the BRHD Hotline to schedule an appointment
  • BRHD Newsletters - Each Friday, BRHD sends out a newsletter with a number of updates, including vaccine allocation, testing schedules, general services announcements, and more. Previous newsletters are archived on the BRHD website, but anyone can sign up to receive future newsletters.
  • BlueRidgeCOVID.org - This is a great landing page for all things COVID in the BRHD. It includes links to scheduling vaccines, VDH COVID dashboards, volunteer opportunities, testing options, safety tips, and more. 
  • VaccineFinder.org - This is a nation-wide search engine that allows people to look for vaccine appointments at a number of providers - health departments, pharmacies, providers, etc - based on their location. BRHD clinics are included in the results of this website. 
  • Social Media - BRHD is active on Facebook and Twitter - many people enjoy following us there as post updates and information that can easily be shared. We are also on NextDoor.
FOOD ACCESS RESOURCES
Cultivate Charlottesville, Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and its network, Cville Community Cares, and Albemarle County’s Equity and Inclusion Office have worked together in various combinations to create the food availability schedules below and a beautiful new online Food Map showing some of the food resources in our City and County. (Source: Charlottesville Community Cares' Newsletter) More information about weekly free food resources and free community meals can be found on Cville Community Cares’ Medium blog, updated every Tuesday at 6 pm.

City & Cultivate Charlottesville’s Food Justice Network's Food Security Text Line
Residents can text “FOOD” or “COMIDA” 24/7 to (844) 947-6518 to receive information about food resources available near their current zip code. Information is available in English and Spanish. Here’s more information.

Use Google’s Find Food Support locator tool
Google created a Find Food Support locator tool that you can use to find your nearest food bank, food pantry or school lunch program pickup site. To use the tool, simply enter an address into the search bar and information for the sites closest to you will be displayed. If possible, call a location before you visit to verify days/hours they are open and any requirements.

FOOD DISTRIBUTION
  • New Beginnings Christian Community – every Monday, Tuesday, and Friday, 1 to 4 pm. Every Saturday, 10 am to 2 pm at New Beginnings Christian Community, 1130 E Market St. Recipients can choose the food they want. Mask and social distancing required. No paperwork needed. Contact Rev.
