Summer is quickly coming to an end, holidays over and back to work for many. We are busy organising the next round of webinars, two in September and one planned for October. The best way to keep ahead of events is to check the calendar on the website.

CDMP Boot Camps
The bad news is the last Boot Camp of 2021 (October) is fully booked with a wait list of 18! The good news is we will shortly be discussing dates for 2022 and will be uploading these to the web calendar as soon as confirmed, priority will obviously go to those already registered on the wait list.

July's DAMA UK members only webinar was one of our most popular to date with member Kohinoor Mukherjee delivering an excellent presentation on Change Management for Data Governance.  If you missed it you can watch the video in the members area of the website and Kohinoor’s has kindly shared the slides which are also available on the website.
Do you have a data story that you would be happy to share with your fellow DAMA UK members? If you are interested in presenting at a future webinar please get in touch.

Important CDMP message from DAMA International
You will be aware that this is the opportunity to be recognized according to the current CDMP standard for all those who obtained a certification as Data Management Professional before March 2019. Valid current CDMP’s can evidence their status by use of the “Openbadge” which is ONLY awarded for current CDMPs.
The CDMP Conversion initiative started in February 2021 and many people have already completed the process. This reminder is because we would like to alert all interested people that the available period to apply and complete the conversion process, which in some cases requires you to pass the current CDMP exams, ends on December 31, 2021!
From January 1 2022, no allowance for prior CDMP status is considered, and people will need to start from zero if they wish to achieve current CDMP status & attain their Openbadge. We are now halfway through the process and with this email we are asking for your support in sending all the local chapters Members a reminder that the deadline to complete - not simply enrol on the conversion process is December 31, 2021.
As a reminder, anyone wishing to apply for the process can go to the page or for more information and start submitting requests.

The Data Standards Authority at the Cabinet Office and the Government Data Quality Hub at ONS are hosting a new cross-government event – DataConnect21 - a week of data-related events and activities to connect people from across government and the public sector around the opportunities to create better data practice together and make a real difference for citizens. 27th September – 1st October 2021.
They are also planning an in-person day in Manchester on Thursday 30th September for those based in and around the city.
Anyone with an interest in data is invited to take part in an exciting range of online activities and events, ranging from data ethics, data quality, data architecture, metadata, data standards to governance and security.
Participating organisations include Sedgemoor Council, DWP Digital, HMRC, National Innovation Centre for Data , Department for Education, Open Data Institute, Office for National Statistics, Open Data Institute Leeds, NHSX, Manchester Digital, Cabinet Office, Information Commissioners Office and many more.
We think that there are some key benefits of DataConnect21

  • A data-focused week to showcase successes, announce new initiatives and promote collaboration around the opportunities of data across the public sector, local government and central government connecting this with direct benefits to citizens.
  • Connect data/digital policy and technical teams across government, Local Government and the public sector; incentivise better practice; help build data capability across government and support delivery of the National Data Strategy missions.
  • Use the learning from the Week to inform policy development and increase collaboration between data policy and practice specialists across government.

The website is DataConnect21 ( where the initial schedule will be available shortly. You can also follow on Twitter @DataConnect21.
