Our summer joint event with the BCS DMSG is one of the highlights of our events calendar. This year, despite the COVID-19 restrictions, will be no exception, but the event is moving online and will be held over the course of a week as a series of webinars. The theme is Delivering Value Through Data and the series will start on Monday 15th June with Peter Thomas from the Prudential Regulation Authority and will end on Friday 19th June with a panel date. Full details of the agenda and registration are available on our website. The event is, as usual, free to members.

Mark Humphries, DAMA UK Chair

Thank you to all DAMA UK members who completed our survey. We had 48 responses which is brilliant. It allows us to tailor what we do to ensure we cover your most pressing issues and hot topics. Here are the highlights:

  • The hottest topic you’d like to hear most about was data governance. Machine learning and artificial intelligence were the coldest topics.
  • We grouped your data challenges by theme. The one that came top was how do you create a data culture? Challenges included persuading your organisation to value data and see its importance.
  • What could DAMA do to help you? Your top three answers included: case studies, content and best practice.
  • Other highlights included that the DMBoK (Data Management Book of Knowledge) is the most popular resource you use and 36% of you engage with DAMA UK resources at least once a week.

The great news is the majority of you would recommend joining DAMA. But we won’t rest until 100% would recommend DAMA UK. Thank you again for all those that completed the survey. We will use your responses to ensure we deliver what you need. If you’d like to see the survey analysis you’ll find it here in the members' area.
