UK Government National Data Strategy Consultation
As mentioned in last month’s newsletter DAMA UK is seeking member inputs for, and curating a collective response to, the UK Government’s draft National Data Strategy, published in September.  The deadline for our submission is 2 December.
Thanks to those who have already contributed.  We would like more members to have their say so we have extended the deadline for member comments to midnight on Friday 13 November.  We have created a version of the National Data Strategy document on Google Docs so please submit your comments there at:

DAMA Northern virtual meetup 23 October 2020
The event was a huge success. We shared our strategies on how to get people to raise data issues, our thoughts on data management consultants, data quality dashboards and master data management. We shared our success and horror stories of these topics and gave each other some useful tips and points of contact.
We will be scheduling more virtual events soon. I’m afraid we must limit invitees to allow everyone to share their hot topics and get advice from each other. But don’t worry we will book in more, so they’ll be ample opportunity to join.

Members Only Webinar - Presentation Practice - 2nd December 7pm
If you attended or watched our last members’ only webinar about the importance of building a personal online brand, you know how useful presenting on webinars can be.  However, many people find the thought of doing this daunting. That is why we are holding a special webinar session to let you practice in a safe environment with fellow DAMA UK members. If this pilot session is useful we may do this for members on a more regular basis.
The session will be facilitated by two committee members with the format as follows:

  • You present on a data topic of your choosing for 5 minutes
  • You receive feedback from everyone else on the webinar
This will be limited to 5 members only.  The session will be recorded and shared with the attendees only after the session.
Please get in contact if you wish to be part of this session and practice virtual presenting in a safe environment.
