The Reel Green initiative aims to empower and inspire productions to implement sustainable practices to reduce their environmental impact and improve their overall environmental footprint. This initiative is governed by an advisory committee of 13 industry leaders committed to creating change in BC’s film sector.

Highlights

Carbon Literacy Courses


As part of our plan to green the motion picture industry Reel Green is making Carbon Literacy Courses available that offer solutions-based training on reducing environmental impacts while on a production.

Courses will be available free of charge to everyone and anyone in the industry.

Julie Bernard from Creative BC presented the Reel Green Strategic Plan at the VIFF Sustainable Production Forum this October. The forum was sold out and saw an array of members of the motion picture industry attend the sessions.

Material reuse
The local motion picture industry has a material reuse center for your used set materials! Before throwing any set material away, ask yourself if it is reusable. If so, send it to the Sustainable Lockup to help minimize production waste that ends up in the landfill.
