A letter from Esther

Our greatest challenge in the 49 years of operation as the largest provider of domestic violence services in Santa Clara County has been grappling with the effects of the world-wide COVID-19 pandemic. Victims have been sheltered in place with their abuser and even long-time survivors are being re-traumatized by being controlled and forced to quarantine.

Next Door Solutions is dealing with the effects of domestic violence on a daily basis in new and adapted ways. Abuse against women, men and members of the LGBTQIA community was considered by the CDC a pandemic long before the appearance of COVID-19. Since 1971, we have provided quality services that have moved survivors out of violence and abuse, into safety, stability and self-sufficiency.

Join the Next Door Solutions team, stay fit and support survivors throughout the Bay Area now through July 31st!
We encourage all our volunteers to purchase a shirt when representing Next Door Solutions in the community!
The Crisis Hotline and Shelter Next Door have remained operational 24/7! The Community Office, where the vast majority of services are conducted, is now open 9 am - 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Staff is able to assist clients while adhering to social distancing as they assist them.  Other adapted services include:
  • Crisis counseling provided via phone
  • Legal advocacy, including assistance with filing restraining orders, is conducted via phone
  • Legal consultations with attorneys are conducted by phone
  • Case Management services are conducted by phone and email
  • Therapy sessions are conducted by phone
  • Support Groups are conducted via phone conferencing, or ZOOM meetings
It is our hope that every family that has been affected by domestic violence has the support to heal, build resiliency, and have the resources necessary to enjoy the highest quality of life possible.

We are here to make sure individuals and their children are safe, to offer support and options to address their unique situation – without judgment, confidentially, and at absolutely no cost to the survivor.
