Dear <<First Name>>,

It's the UN Decade of Ocean Science, and we're committed  to delivering
"the science we need for the oceans we want "

We look forward to you joining us along the way

Sydney Seahorses are not the travelling type!
They like to find a 'happy place', fall in love and give birth.
So when their habitat is lost, they're lost too.

In an exciting new SIMS partnership,  Taylors Wines has launched a fabulous initiative to save the endangered Sydney seahorse from extinction.  SeaBnB  is a fundraising campaign that calls on us all to give Sydney Seahorses a temporary home, while SIMS researchers work to rebuild their permanent seagrass habitats.

Superstars of Stem

SIMS celebrates all the Superstars of STEM - reserving an extra  special congratulations to our marine scientists

Congratulations to Dr. Alex Campbell, Dr. Steph Gardner, Dr Jen Matthews, and Dr. Vanessa Pirotta
The Superstars of STEM program is creating a critical mass of celebrity Australian women who work as scientists and technologists - role models for young women and girls – and to work towards equal representation in the media of women and men working in all fields in STEM.

Barangaroo Underwater Garden

SIMS is excited to see the realisation of a long term collaboration with Lend Lease,  focussed on ensuring the marine structures at Watermans Cove, Barangaroo incorporate design features which enhance marine biodiversity.

In late 2020, the first stage of the underwater garden was created beneath the timber boardwalk at Watermans Cove, using 384 specially designed marine habitat panels which will span around the cove in the intertidal and subtidal zone.
