What Matters To Michael Dennin and Why

Michael Dennin began his talk with taking a selfie with a room full of Zot-ing UCI students, faculty, and staff. Always smiling, Dennin began to talk about the link between happiness and choices. While answering the question of “What Matters to Me and Why,” he made a connection between his happiness and family, people, and faith. These are the three pillars that hold the key to Dean Dennin’s happiness.

Call for Proposals for Freshman Seminars 2017-2018

Do you want to teach a DUE freshman seminar in 2017-18? This year, DUE will be hosting seminars for new freshmen all three quarters! There is a $1,500 research stipend to faculty for each seminar taught as an overload. Applications for fall 2017 seminars are due by April 28, 2017. For more details and links to submit your proposal, click here

The Campuswide Honors Program (CHP) welcomed UCI alumna Jennifer Friend, CEO of Project Hope Alliance, to share her personal story and professional trajectory with honors students during last month’s Lunch with Leadership event.  The new quarterly series provides CHP students the opportunity to enjoy an intimate hosted lunch and engage in discussion with an established leader in the community.

University of California Education Abroad Program 
"Throughout my experience interning abroad, one word to describe the most valuable skill I’ve learned is adaptability. Moving into a new country is not easy, let alone working in a new culture where business norms differ. There were times in my internship where cultural clashes and misunderstandings occurred but I learned to view these nuances as chances for me to adapt out of my comfort zone. Working abroad has not only given me multicultural knowledge about marketing but has also reshaped my communication skills and views on work culture."

In honor of National Nutrition Month, this engaging episode features special guest Tracy Bryars, Manager of the Healthy Communities Initiative at St. Jude Medical Center. In this episode, she talks about her position and her history of fighting childhood obesity. Watch it here
