Senior Class Gift: Zot for a ‘BOT!
UCI Seniors have decided to give back by bringing telepresence robots to UCI to assist chronically ill UCI students. The telepresence robots will allow UCI students to continue attending classes when symptoms or treatments for illnesses (e.g., cancer, heart disease, etc.) do not allow them to be present for classes and activities as needed. Students can control these robots from home to move around classrooms, listen and talk to professors and classmates, and even participate in extra-curricular activities and meetings.

Faculty Focused

With the growing number of students on campus, your course is large and may be getting larger. Are you motivated to get back that experience of talking to students and discussing the course content? Take a few minutes to learn and try one of these simple techniques to get some interaction back into class time.
Are you interested in moving some of your teaching online to make face-to-face time with your students more flexible, interactive, and productive? The DTL is encouraging faculty to explore a hybrid class format for classes in Fall 2016. Learn more about how to participate on the Hybrid Initiative page.

La Raza at UC Irvine
Every year a group of students get together to plan what is known as the annual Raza Graduation ceremony.  Raza Graduation is a more intimate, festive, and culturally inclusive graduation ceremony for Chican/Latin students. Everything is spoken in both English and Spanish and students are given the opportunity to say a few words to thank those who have helped them reach their accomplishments. It is a celebration that seeks to highlight the achievements in higher education of the Latino community at UCI.
