Trees for Nebraska Towns Program

Ready to enhance your community forest? We want to help. The Trees for Nebraska Towns (TNT) program provides $2,000-$20,000 to support public space tree planting projects in communities throughout Nebraska. We offer the funding support, as well as guidance and technical assistance, for projects that:

  • Emphasize planting of large maturing trees in public spaces
  • Thoughtfully plan for diversity, sustainability, longevity and resilience
  • Include companion plantings
  • Contribute habitat for wildlife and beneficial insects
  • Increase awareness and appreciation for the value of our community forests
Why Trees?

The community forest is a valuable and cherished part of any community, providing many significant benefits, both tangible and intangible. Beyond the obvious shade and beauty, trees quietly help us control pollution (both air and water), manage stormwater, create wildlife habitat, and provide a range of economic, health and psychological benefits.

Trees for Nebraska Towns Program Goals
  • Significantly increase the number of large-maturing trees in Nebraska communities.
  • Increase the diversity, health, resiliency and sustainability of Nebraska community forests.
  • Increase awareness of proper tree selection, placement, planting and care of trees.
  • Increase awareness and appreciation for the benefits of the community forest.
