Today's forecast made me think of this gif of a shopping cart abandoned in the South Platte. (Kevin J Beaty/Denverite)
Good morning, Denverite reader!

How's the fall weather treating you? I think of this as the beginning of that cherished time of year when a lot of people are pumpkin spice late to work on Mondays.

In case you missed it last week, Ashley put together a pretty great guide to fall things to do in Denver. You should use it

Gubernatorial candidates Jared Polis and Walker Stapleton debated a few times over the weekend. On Friday, Esteban watched them in person and, later, on TV. His takeaways: Polis looks more comfortable after some polling showed him with a lead and Stapleton came out swinging. At least they agree on kombucha.

 What's it like out there?
Weather: The National Weather Service forecast calls for rain, snow, rain, thunder, fog, clouds and light wind, in that order. Something for everybody! That's the best spin I can muster for this one! Because it actually sounds pretty gross! And a high of 42. Now back to Dave for the news. Dave?
 Need to know

Gubernatorial candidates take swipes at each other in a busy weekend of debates

They didn't like each other much in a forum downtown at breakfast time and later, on TV, they liked each other a bit less. But Jared Polis and Walker Stapleton have to tolerate each other for about a month more, with several debates to go. Esteban's got takeaways for you from each of Friday's Denver events. (Denverite)
  • On Saturday, the candidates hopped out to Grand Junction for what was billed as the rural issues debate, being the only scheduled debate outside of the Front Range. (Grand Junction Sentinel)
  • Ballot guides: Don't forget you can do some of your homework starting right now. Here's the Colorado ballot, here's the Denver ballot. (Denverite)
