July is a busy time on the farm, but it's also very exciting!  We are starting to see lots of flowers blooming that we planted in the fall - poppies, lilies, and sunflowers!  We hope to bring more flowers to the Saturday Farmer's Market as the season continues.

This week we threw in a little surprise - peaches! Although we don't grow peaches on our farm, we like to include seasonal and regional specialties every once in a while to spoil our CSA members.  We hope you enjoy them along with the veggies from our farm.  Let us know what you think!
CSA share pick up at the Wednesday market in the Big Lots parking lot from 3-6pm.  See the green box below for what to expect in your share this week!

Find us at the Downtown Farmer's Market every Saturday from 9-1:30 at 9th & Main!
In your CSA share this week...

Micro Greens

*Peaches are from Twin Girls Farm in Sultana, CA

What is Kohlrabi?
It's in the broccoli family.  Some say it's a cross between an apple, broccoli, with a hint of turnip.  It's also compared to jicama.  Either way, it's crisp, fresh, and delicious!  You can eat it raw, in stir fry, roast it, pickle it, bake it, just about anything!  Here is a favorite recipe to start with...

Kohlrabi & Carrot Slaw
1 large kohlrabi, peeled, stems trimmed off, grated
¼ head cabbage, shredded
2 medium carrots, peeled and grated
½ red onion, grated
4 tablespoon cilantro, chopped (optional)
¼ cup golden raisins (optional)
¼ cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
Combine the kohlrabi, cabbage, carrots, onion, cilantro, and raisins (if using) in a large bowl.  In a smaller bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, cider vinegar, sugar, and salt.  Pour dressing over the slaw, and mix until fully coated. Chill for several hours before serving. Enjoy!
