"Eating is an agricultural act" ~ Wendell Berry
Last week I mentioned that the average American meal travels 1500 miles.  Although that can be a somewhat depressing fact, the good news is that we have the power to make a difference every time we eat!  I love this quote because it reminds me to think about where my food came from. It seems simple, but if you walk into any grocery store and walk down the aisles filled with colorful boxes, packages, and shiny fruits and vegetables, it is easy to forget what it takes to produce the food that nourishes us.

When you buy from a local (and organic!) farmer, it is certainly an agricultural statement.  You are supporting an agricultural system that is increasingly rare, but vital to the health of our community.  Thank you for supporting Fresh Green as we strive to grow fresh and healthy food for Klamath Falls!

* CSA share pick up at the Wednesday market in the Big Lots parking lot from 3-6pm.  See the green box below for what to expect in your share this week! *

What are pea shoots?

Pea shoots are like baby greens, but of pea plants!  They are tender and delicious and very versatile. Throw them in a salad or cook them in a stir fry.  Here are some links to recipes and information on pea shoots:

If you would like to subscribe to our farm and get fresh, organic vegetables every week then just reply to this email and we can fill you in on the details.
We had a student from UC Berkeley visit the farm last week as part of her organic farm tour along the west coast.  Mackenzie is studying food systems and wanted to learn more about agriculture and organic farming first hand.  It was a lot of fun showing her what we do here at FGO!
