We are excited about Apostles Kids & Youth this fall! Our desire at Apostles is for our children and youth to know God’s love for them, to become lifelong followers of Jesus, and to discover their place in God’s family.
Below you will find an important update of ways we’re seeking to love our kids and share Jesus with them in the months ahead. Thanks to all our parents and volunteers who minster so faithfully to our kids.
Please continue to pray the Lord would lead us in the search for our next Family Life Minister!
Curriculum: Our kids will be discovering Jesus in the Psalms! In fact, our whole church family will be studying the Psalms in our LifeGroups and through the sermon series during September, October
and November. We are excited to teach our children to pray, sing and search the Psalms for their savior! This means we will be making a curriculum change this fall. Rather than the Gospel Project, our own Alexis Schadel, Vaughan Clark, and Langley Cumbie are helping create a curriculum on the Psalms for our kids. We're excited to see how the Holy Spirit works as we all study God's word together!
Also, on Sunday mornings Ryan and the worship team will be teaching all of our children and youth a song based on a Psalm. They'll be leading the congregation in the song in November!
Kids Ministry Team:We are especially grateful for for folks have stepped in to lead our kids minister during this interim season. Our Sunday Kids Team Leaders (Lauren Phillips, Wimberly Hoogendoorn, Lauren Hiser, Susan Munson, Alison Wisdom and Les Clark) help coordinate logistics and support our classroom volunteers each week.
And starting this fall, Alexis Schadel will serve each Sunday as our Sunday Kids Coordinator, praying for volunteers, welcoming families and helping answer questions for guests. During the week, Christina Solomon will help setup our classrooms for Sunday morning lessons including printing leader guides, stocking rooms for activities, snacks and basic supplies.
Keeping our kids safe:Apostles remains committed to keeping our children safe. Over the summer we have been evaluating our current safety and security policies and are in the process of implementing a few improvements.
One important change we want parents to be aware of is starting this week we will be limiting capacity for nursery to ensure we have a safe volunteer-to-child ratio. The infant nursery will be limited to eight children and the toddler/preschool room will be limited to 12 children. Once these rooms are full, parents will be invited to worship with their children in the sanctuary. Our hope is to add another classroom in the near future to accommodate our growing community!
