The Federal Aviation Administration is looking to improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in major metropolitan areas across the country, including Colorado. The FAA has identified metropolitan areas with multiple airports and complex air traffic flows, which they are calling Metroplexes.

Metroplexes provide a successful way to de-conflict airspace in congested areas with multiple airports, which expands efficiency gains that ripple to other areas.

The FAA has completed or is at some point in the study, designed, evaluated, or implemented a phased approach for 12 Metroplexes in our country, of which, the Denver metro area is one of them.

The FAA will be holding several meetings in Colorado to get public input on their plans. To view the calendar and to find a meeting near you, visit: https://www.faa.gov/nextgen/communityengagement/den/
