What's New?

Summer has been filled with progress on both the product and business development fronts. We are preparing for the commercial release of our Beta turbine, which will be wet-tested at full scale at an independent lab in the coming weeks. On the sales side, Emrgy is keeping up with the consistently growing interest in our distributed hydropower solution by bringing on board a seasoned Director of Business Development to manage both domestic and international client relations. He brings significant expertise from a fruitful career in the agriculture industry.

Commercial Release of Next-Gen Turbine

Our engineering team has been hard at work this quarter, advancing our Beta product for scale. We have simplified the system design, and defined optimal materials and methods of fabrication, for streamlined, cost-effective manufacturing
and assembly. The result? A stronger, lighter, more efficient turbine. In addition, these performance enhancements increase the system's power density over an even wider range of flows and environments.

From Design to Commercial Deployment

To ensure optimal operation for new customers, we have built and assembled a new Emrgy turbine in our manufacturing plant in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The manufacturing and assembly procedures have proven to meet the timelines projected by the product development team — reducing the number of man-hours for each turbine build.

The next steps? Testing of the performance and hydraulic impacts will occur in partnership with Alden Research Laboratory — a world-renowned leader in fluid dynamics and water turbine performance testing. The tests will span a broad spectrum of operating conditions to ensure system performance across the unit’s entire operational envelope for a given customers’ site conditions.

In addition to our Denver array, Emrgy has projects in varying stages of development with customers and partners in California, Idaho, Washington, and a number of international markets including Mexico, Italy and South Africa. Inbound interest, along with customer leads generated through our growing proprietary database, has kept us moving towards our trajectory of successful market growth.

Interview Published in Italy's "The Infinite in a Drop"

An interview with Emrgy CEO Emily Morris was published in an Italian book by Ilaria Olivo and Andrea Mocchiutti entitled "L’infinito in una goccia," or "The Infinite in a Drop". In her interview, Emily explains how Emrgy's technology was developed, why it's so unique and just how significant its potential is. The book, published by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Hydroelectric Entrepreneurs Association, tells the story of hydroelectric power in northeast Italy and aims to help its readers understand the necessity of implementing hydroelectric resources, such as Emrgy's solution.

Emrgy won the 2018 Emerging Markets Day People's Choice Award after attending the Industry Growth Forum
Emrgy was highlighted in an article published by NREL on their Industry Growth Forum. Emrgy attended this event in 2018, which lead to Emrgy receiving technical assistance from NREL and winning the 2018 Emerging Markets Day People's Choice Award. The article, found here, explains how the forum is essential for cleantech startup companies.

 Recent Highlights

InnovationXLab: Advanced Manufacturing Summit

Emrgy held a booth at this year’s InnovationXLab: Advanced Manufacturing Summit at Oak Ridge National Labs in Tennessee. The summit focused on exploring new solutions to manufacturing challenges and opportunities. U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry, who addressed the summit attendees and walked through the display booths, is pictured above with Emrgy’s turbine and full-size 3D printed flume (manufactured in partnership with Oak Ridge National Laboratories).

IHA World HydroPower Congress

CEO Emily Morris (pictured above) attended the IHA World HydroPower Congress in Paris, May 14th - 16th. This year’s theme, ‘The Power of Water in a Sustainable, Interconnected World,’ focused on the role hydropower plays in delivering on the Paris Agreement and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Emily noted the congress was beneficial in providing an all-encompassing picture of where the hydro industry is headed. She met potential customers from many places around the world that are eagerly seeking the distributed hydropower solution that Emrgy provides.

CCIA Energy Fellows Institute

Senior Technical Sales Engineer Madeleine White (pictured above) presented during the CCIA Energy Fellows Institute in May on the successes and challenges of cleantech startups on behalf of Emrgy. The Energy Fellows Institute is an executive immersion program that encourages the exchange of ideas and skills to develop successful advanced energy industry leaders. Bob Gills, Emrgy's new Director of Business Development, attended the week-long program and was one of only nine fellows chosen this year to participate.

Bob's career spans more than 30 years of sales, sales management and executive management experience. He joins us after a successful career as Director of Global Sales for Agri-Inject, a provider of chemigation solutions, and brings expertise in the automotive, oil & gas, retail and agriculture industries.

Join Our Team: Chief Engineer Position

The Chief Engineer (ChE) is a key leader on Emrgy’s technical team. The ChE provides critical technical acumen in the development and deployment of current and future product lines as the subject matter expert (SME) for the product innovation, engineering and manufacturing programs. This role will require knowledge of the entire energy production system, including the hydrokinetic turbine technology, power take-off system, control and power electronics, balance-of-system components and grid/microgrid interconnect.
