The Cornell Lab of Ornithology's Bird Academy is offering a free course to help everyone who wants to participate in Project Feeder Watch, to better hone their bird identification skills.
Some people decide not to participate because they are afraid they will not be able to correctly identify the birds they see.
But, guess what? That's OK. Everyone, even seasoned birders, and ornithologists, make mistakes sometimes when identifying birds. It's more important to tell what you see, even with a few mistakes, than to not report anything by not taking part.
The course is fun, and friendly. Not like school used to be. ;-)
Even if you don't participate in Project Feeder Watch, take advantage of this free offer from one of the world's best science labs. You won't regret it!
The Bird Academy says:
"Discover how eBird can support your passion for birds and how your participation can help us better understand them. Birder, bird watcher, or bird lover, it doesn’t matter—this course is for you. Whether you watch birds at your feeder or on the way to work, or travel miles for that one bird you can’t wait to see, eBird can help."
