TYSA Presents "Parents You Matter" to Department of Education Professionals Across Staten Island

In collaboration with the UFT and Staten Island Borough Hall, TYSA has adapted its "Drugs, Alcohol, Your Child, and You - Staten Island Parent's You Matter!" presentation to create a DOE Professional Development workshop. TYSA is rolling out the workshop in all middle schools across the borough. In our first week, five workshops were given to over 800 participants in the following schools: PS/IS 861, IS 49, IS 28, IS 75, IS 51, IS 61.

We thank our wonderful partners who delivered the workshops: Pat Tooker of Wagner College, Geoffrey Debery of ThriveNYC, Amanda Wexler of YMCA, Stephen Bennett of UAUCarol Pisapia of Northwell Health, and TYSA's Susan Hudec.

On October 22, 2016, TYSA challenged Staten Islanders to #TakeBackSI by dropping off their used and expired medications to one of the NYPD precincts or to pick up new drug deactivation pouches at Delco Drugs & Specialty Pharmacy, South Shore YMCA or Broadway YMCA. NYPD locations offer a drug take back box all year long, with no questions asked.
