News from the Bunker - November 2019

It’s been quite a year so far at PBSA, as we continue to explore and learn about the burgeoning video game live-streaming ecosystem.

This Fall we were privileged to attend the most recent editions of EsportsBAR, Esports Business Summit, ESI London, and also took part in the Casino Esports Conference in Las Vegas. There, PBSA President and Peerplays founder Jonathan Baha’i participated in a blockchain panel.
Before leaving his seat on this panel, Jonathan was invited to Boston to partake in another blockchain panel, this time at the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Easy5050 - Fundraising with Blockchain

It’s one of the things that draws people to hockey games - aside from the hockey itself - and it’s been a staple of charitable fundraising for year's: the 50/50 draw.

Traditionally, you pay $2 (or whatever the price is) for a ticket stub, where half of the physical ticket stays in your pocket and the other half goes into a literal bucket. A few hours later - or days, or weeks, or more - a ticket is pulled out of the bucket and the number on the stub is declared a winner! Half of the funds raised go to the ticket owner, and half go to the charity.
Except, wait… where’d that ticket stub go that was just in my pocket? Maybe it went through the wash, maybe it was accidentally thrown in the garbage, maybe it fell to the floor while reaching for your car keys. Now someone else’s ticket is going to be drawn at random (or with intent, depending how much you trust that the draw is done fairly in the first place.

There has to be an easier way. There has to be a way that’s more fair.

Well, there is, and it’s called Easy5050. Running on the Peerplays blockchain and containing all the elements of a traditional 50/50 draw, Easy5050 puts the tickets - and the draw itself - on the blockchain.

It’s the safest way to hold your 50/50 draw, and blockchain technology makes it provably fair.

PBSA President on BlockTV

Earlier this month, our President/Founder enjoyed an in depth conversation with blockchain/cryptocurrency news site BlockTV. They titled the interview “Bringing Fairness, Speed and Security To the Gaming Industry,” and we agree this pretty much sums it up.
Click here for the full 23 minute interview (we were told these typically last about half as long, but the BlockTV team found it to be interesting enough to keep the conversation going long!).
