A group of authors, of which I'm a part of, recently debated whether or not to write their newest novels in a COVID world.
Should their characters be social distancing and wearing masks? The situation changes every day and authors, in my opinion, are hard-pressed to represent the crisis accurately. I'm not going to try to do it.
Readers want to read what's real. While COVID continues to dominate the news, I disagree that you want to read about it when you pick up a book. Reading fiction should bring you enjoyment and pleasure. It should help you escape from boredom and stress, whether it's a psychological thriller or a sweet romance.
I think readers want to get lost in the pages of a book, relax and escape the real world. I hope that's what happens when you read my books. Do you agree with me? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
I'll be releasing a new book next month, a murder suspense. Feel free to escape in the pages of When Push Comes to Shoot.
