1-2-3: Race
CMPL is excited to launch a new initiative where at the beginning of each calendar year, we will provide intentional programming centering on a timely issue. We will select a picture book, middle grade book, and adult novel that focus on our theme. Our goal is to provide our communities with forums to learn about, think about, and discuss challenging contemporary issues. This year’s topic is race. We are offering programs January-April to complement this theme. Please join us for one or all of these programs. We have selected the following books based on age:
  • Sulwe by Lupita Nyong’o
  • Ghost Boys by Jewell Parker Rhodes
  • The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett

Progress at the new North Branch
Have you driven by the new North Branch recently? If so, you know that the building is starting to take shape! The exterior is bricked and we are getting ready to turn inward during the winter months. We are still on track for a fall 2021 opening. We cannot wait to share it with you. Keep up with the progress on our website. Visit our website for construction updates.

January Events
Tack the CMPL event calendar on the refrigerator and get ready for January:
New Ways to Read
We're offering two new ways to check out material from CMPL. One is for adults and one is for kids.

Perfect Pair: Check out two books with similar themes that we’ve paired together for you. Search our catalog for Perfect Pair or ask for a bag when you call for curbside service.

Little Reader Bags: Parents and caregivers can search the catalog for “Little Reader Bags” and put their bag choice on hold. Each bag contains 6-10 books on a theme, from baby story time favorites to Preschool Picks. These bags are designed for parents and caregivers to select and go.
What is the Q Branch?
We are following guidelines to ensure the health and safety of customers and staff. This includes quarantining items when you return them. When you’re browsing the catalog, you might notice a new CMPL “branch” when you’re looking for an item. It will start with Q. This location simply means that the item is being held in quarantine until we’re sure it’s safe to circulate again. You can still place a hold on these items. We’ll send you a notice when the item is available to check out.
