1-2-3: Race

Join us for the final event in the 1-2-3: Race initiative this year. On Mon., April 19 at
7 p.m. learn more about the hip-hop genre of music as it relates to race historically and in the present day. Presented by Dr. V. Thandi Sulé, Associate Professor of Higher Education at Oakland University, this program is a wonderful combination of social issues, history and music. Register here starting April 5.

ESL and Naturalization Help

CMPL offers opportunities for people learning English to get together and practice conversations on Saturdays at
10 a.m.
If you are learning English, or know someone who could benefit from practicing speaking with others, join the ESL Conversation Group. In April, these meetings will be held virtually on Zoom. Register to receive the link on the Events calendar.

After mastering the language, why not look into the process of becoming a citizen? On Wed., April 21 at 6:30 p.m. Frank Castria will present a free virtual session for any person interested in obtaining U.S. Citizenship, especially permanent residents awaiting their Naturalization interview or who are interested in applying for Naturalization. Registration opens on April 7.

Have you driven by the new North Branch lately? It's coming along! Much of the outdoor work has been completed and much work is being done inside. Catch up on all the work that has been completed with video and pictures on our new North webpage.

Used Book Sale
The Friends of the Library miss seeing you at the used book sales, but there are still options for you to get your hands on used books. The Friends are selling used books in the lobby of the Main Library and at kiosks at the branches. Please bring exact change as these sales are self-serve. The Friends even have books available for sale on Amazon if you're looking for something special.
